Addicted to my laptop

As an architecture student at Ball State my laptop is, without a doubt, the most important device in my life. Through the use of this tool I am able to model projects, demonstrate ideas, communicate with others, and develop fabrication content for Laser Cutting and CNC Milling from any position in the world. My laptop has, in a sense, replaced my sketch pad; it allows me to think in 2 or 3D and to review my ideas with people all over the world.

Aside from my school work, it is my main source for information. Television, with the exception of Jon Stewart’s – The Daily Show, has proven to be a content free instant gratification for those who need to live vicariously through others; real life is more interesting. E-mail, streaming video, blogs, Google and an infinite array of other sources present relevant content without commercials.

The conveniences provided by my laptop have changed the way I work, as a student, as a designer and as a person. It has given me the freedom to work anywhere, keep in touch with others, and remain aware of what happens outside Muncie IN.
