Amp'd Adds Jack Black, Others To Roster

  • February 6, 2007
Amp'd Mobile on Monday announced a series of content development deals with talent including funnyman Jack Black and "24" Executive Producer Howard Gordon. Black will develop a series of comedy shorts for Amp'd with production partners Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab, based on their monthly Channel 101 film festival in Los Angeles, where audience members vote on which short "pilots" merit new episodes to be shown at the next screening.

Also launching is Gordon's "The Paranormal News with April Scott," an original investigative series examining mysterious sightings from around the world and including analysis from government and paranormal experts. Other shows being developed in-house at Amp'd include "Gold Diggers," a dating show in which two girls compete to have their date spend more on them. Launched in 2005, Amp'd operates a virtual mobile network featuring content aimed at young men. So far, it's attracted more than 100,000 subscribers.
