Social networking site Facebook has begun testing virtual "gifts"--small icons or pictures that users can send to one another for $1, paid through PayPal. The gifts can be displayed on users'
"walls"--communal writing spaces where friends can leave messages. The gifts are similar to those offered by competing social networking sites like Xuqa.com and Consumating.com.
