I can be described as a polyglot. At a very early age, I discovered the connection I have toward other languages and to diversity in general. In fact, while a kid, I always dreamed of being a translator. One of my early goals was to add Italian and English to my repertoire. Perhaps, my background and environment played a big part: I was born in México.

Mexicans are diverse by nature, and because of that, Mexicans and Mexican-Americans are reshaping the US like a particular group of individuals never has. The US is experiencing a massive cultural re-structuration - Anglo and Afro America chose long ago not to be aware of it. The cultural re-structuration is coming from the inside out and our digital technology is being used as the main artifact for this Cultural Revolution.

Mexican immigrants are followed not only by their families but by their flags also. Mexicans have a pro-diversity system that makes ours look obsolete; they are doing something like Toyota did to the American automotive industry. The Midwest in general, failed miserably to recognize and to approach the massive numbers of Mexican immigrants, as they deserved, it seems the educated here are the immigrants, not us. Midwesterners will pay the consequences by observing the American culture and society become a hybrid one.

Today, Mexican immigrants are more powerful then ever before. Working hard is the norm and they know how to blend into the “Monosapiens system” created by Anglo and Afro America. Mexicans usually blend for only 10 hours a day (for a Mexican, 8 hours of work a day is a joke and Monomode does not work well in them), not more.

Economic power brings the cultural reshaping to the table. Access to technology is the critical subject here; this process will evolve into the final “vaccine” for the old and out-dated Mono-America. In other words, simply recognizing Anglo and Afro as "diversity" will not be sufficient. Can’t wait to see this breakthrough event.

Once here, Mexican immigrants have access to every single gadget and capitalism comes into play. Here, in the private sector, the ordinary American citizen and his Mexican counterpart compete evenly. The private sector does not care about cultural consequences, higher profits are the target. It is important to say that the new wave of Mexican immigrants will never identify with the Chicano movement and their culture in general. The new digital revolution permits newly arrived Mexican immigrants to be Mexicans regardless their location.

This new interactivity has never been experienced before by a group of immigrants like Mexicans are doing it today. This new technological process can be called the “Iceberg Effect,” just a small part of it can be seen on the surface - here, surface equals “access." What they do with it after gaining “access," the average American does not know. . . but they will. Cell phone data can be an example.

As of today, Mexican immigrants have access to Phones, computers, Internet, satellites, and to every possible new device in the marketplace regardless their legal status. The new digital media goes well beyond any Mexican immigrant's wildest dream. Today ESPN Deportes is a must, CNN en Español an obligation, Fox Sports en Español a necessity, Gol TV an addiction, Yahoo México, their home page, and so on. Is is fair to say that the nation that once imposed and shaped the world cultures with its technology, is now being shaped by technology - Mexican style.
