I'm addicted to Crack[berry]

  • by , March 20, 2007

I used to make fun of those people I saw walking along the street with a determined gaze into their palms, where they were forever "thumbing" at a small electronic device ... seemingly oblivious to the world around them.

Oops.

Now I'm one of them. Over spring break, I was lucky enough to convince my father that a BlackBerry would be an extremely beneficial tool for someone like me, giving me full access to my e-mail and the Internet from anywhere within the Cingular network. (er, the "new AT&T").

It's not just me. Of course, there are the likely business types that holster the massive smart phones to their belt, and feel utterly helpless without the connectivity provided by the addictive unit. But now, with the addition of more stylish and sleek models that pack the same functionality (and then some!) ... you begin to see people like me (who's all about the aesthetics) begin to jump on board.

CrackBerry. Not just for yuppies anymore.

It's funny you mention it. I've had a Blackberry since sophomore year and have gotten a lot of great jokes about workaholism. But the big secret is Blackberries are fun, especially if they're for personal use, not assigned to you by an omnipresent employer. And now with the new model, the Pearl, Blackberry has a funner face that might appeal to even more college students. I hope so--then everyone would stop making fun of me!
