American Media continued its assault on its fellow publishing behemoths by poaching publishing PR veteran Stu Zakim from Wenner Media. Zakim, previously Wenner's chief liaison/corporate communications
officer, assumes the newly created position of senior vice president, corporate communications.
The move reunites Zakim with American Media editorial director Bonnie Fuller, with whom he worked at
Us Weekly. "We did great things together before and I look forward to his contributions and counsel," she said in a press release. Zakim will create communications strategies around a host of
projects, including the recent revamp of Star Magazine and the scheduled March test of Thalia, an entertainment and women's lifestyle magazine edited by Latino recording artist Thalia.
American
Media spokesperson Richard Valvo will remain with the company as a corporate vice president.
