LA Times Managing Editor Resigns

Douglas Frantz, one of two managing editors at the Los Angeles Times has resigned. He will become Middle East bureau chief for The Wall Street Journal, based in Istanbul. Franz, who joined the newspaper as a business reporter in 1987 and was named managing editor in 2005, did not offer an explanation for his resignation. His successor will be selected soon. The newspaper is seeking to cut 150 jobs.
