Coca-Cola has partnered with global online gaming community GGL to host tournaments in more than 8,000 cybercafés in China.
Santa Monica-based GGL entered into a marketing
agreement with iCoke, Coca-Cola's branded online community for Chinese consumers. The deal will expose some 29 million registered iCoke users to GGL's content and technology--through a series of
regional game tournaments that will be hosted on the iCoke site as well as Coke-supported cybercafés.
The winner of the tournaments will be flown to New York City to compete in the 2007
Digital Life gaming tournament, which will take place Sept. 27-30.
"China has one of the largest and fastest-growing online gaming populations in the world, and as the leading media company
dedicated to spreading the culture of video gaming worldwide, China is exactly where we want to be," said Ted Owen, Chairman and co-founder, GGL.
