Google will stop offering downloadable videos to own or rent from its homegrown video site as of Wednesday, according to an email the company sent to customers on Friday.
The move
is an acknowledgement that Google is having more success attracting advertising spending than selling content, and is focusing on the successful ad monetization of its video-sharing site YouTube,
which it bought nine months ago for $1.6 billion.
Google started selling shows such as "Survivor" in January 2006.
