New data from the Radio Advertising Bureau says radio revenue rose five percent for August. Local sales figures for August increased 4% and national dollars were up by 9% when compared to the same
month a year ago. On a year-to-date basis, total combined ad dollars showed a 3% gain for the first eight months of 2002. National sales figures rose 7% and local dollars were up 2%. The RAB sales
index, which compares data to a baseline of 1997 results, measured 129.4 for local sales. The national number is 121.5 for a combined total sales index of 127.1. Year-to-date, the local sales index is
133.8, the national index is 133.1 and the combined total is 133.6.
