Buoyed By Golf Sales, Dick's Scores In Second Quarter

With strong sales of golf gear, Dick's Sporting Goods says second-quarter sales gained 38% to $1 billion--with comparable-store sales increasing 7.2%, including its recently acquired Golf Galaxy
chain.
"We achieved increased sales not only in golf but across most of our businesses," the company says. For the year, it predicts comparable-store sales will increase
approximately 2%, compared to a 6% increase last year.
