Survey: TV, Print Still Tops With News, But Web Strong Third

According to the results of a new survey, more than 100 million Americans (or 47% or respondents) now get most of their news from Web sites. But the research commissioned from Aegis Group's Synovate found that TV and newspapers are still the top two sources of news among Americans over 18--with online news ranking third.

Synovate conducted the poll of 1,000 adults over two days in late September, and TV emerged as the top news source in terms of unaided mention--with almost 79% of respondents (extrapolated to 171 million people).

Newspapers followed close behind with 67% (or 145 million people. Meanwhile, blogs took the last of the top nine spots, with almost 4% of respondents (or 8 million Americans) saying that blogs were their main source of news.
