Spanfeller Named To GlowPoint Board

Video communications provider GlowPoint on Monday named Jim Spanfeller, CEO of Forbes.com, to its Board of Directors. Spanfeller replaces Lew Jaffe, who's served on the GlowPoint board since 2001. GlowPoint CEO and President David Trachtenberg, said that Spanfeller was tapped for the depth and breadth of his brand-building, marketing and sales expertise. "Jim has a unique perspective on today's business environment and a proven track record on building brands and expanding sales in a competitive marketplace," Trachtenberg said in a statement.

Spanfeller oversees all aspects of the strategic and operational management of Forbes.com and has increased revenues during his tenure there by more than 60 percent. Prior to joining Forbes.com, Spanfeller was president of the Consumer Magazine Group of Ziff Davis Media, Inc., publisher of Inc. magazine, and held executive positions at Playboy Enterprises Publishing Group and Newsweek. He is also the vice chairman of the Interactive Advertising Bureau Executive Committee for 2004. As an independent director of GlowPoint, Spanfeller will receive a grant of 80,000 shares of restricted Glowpoint stock with a multi-year vesting schedule, according to the company.
