Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is sticking behind the religious tone of his recent campaign ad. "You can find Santa at every mall," he says. "You can find discounts in every store.
But if you mention the name of Jesus, as I found out recently, it upsets the whole world." The preacher and former governor of Arkansas refers to his spot -- now on-air in Iowa, New Hampshire and
South Carolina -- that has him in front of a Christmas tree asking.
In it, he asks: "Are you about worn out by all the television commercials you've been seeing, mostly about
politics? Well, I don't blame you. At this time of year sometimes it's nice to pull aside from all of that and just remember that what really matters is the celebration of the birth of Christ and
being with our family and friends."
Some think Huckabee is going too far in mixing politics and religion, as he had a cross-like image in the background. But "while some people seem
to want us to lose Jesus, I would like for us to do our best to find him," said Huckabee at a recent sermon to a megachurch founded by televangelist John Hagee.
