MTV Networks struck deals with five new Web sites to expand the legal online distribution of its content. They are: online video sharing sites Dailymotion, GoFish and Veoh, music sharing site
iMeem, and interactive TV guide MeeVee. As part of the deal, MTV will provide video clips, widgets, and other online content to these sites from its 10 cable and broadband networks.
The deals involve ad-sharing; as such, the publishers will carry MTV-branded channels and internally promote MTV content. PaidContent.org estimates that MTV will keep 70 percent of ad revenues, an MTVN exec would not discuss or confirm the rev-share details. Per its distribution strategy, the Viacom company will sell all of the advertising for its branded channels.
