What in the world are they thinking. Since when is a show a guaranteed hit? How will they know it will be a hit unless they put a pilot on and a 100% into it. Did Fox really know that "American Idol"
would be a big hit? If this approach is taken, I believe we will see a revamping of old hit shows. I can see it now: "Beverly Hillbillies: the Next Generation." "Back to Mayberry: The Untold Stories
of Opie." "American Idol 3.5": Washed-up singers get a second chance, starring Britney Spears.
You have to invest money to make money. If they want to try to get money out of these pilots, put them
on the Internet. You never know, they may catch on.
If "All in the Family" was put on today, it would have been cancelled. At first it was a flop till summer reruns, then it was a top-10 show for
years.
If NBC wants to save money they could do it by firing the person or persons who came up with this idea. Developing new and innovative products and programming is the way to keep a business
thriving. If we took this approach we would still have antennas on the sides of our homes, cause no one would have wanted to take the "risk" of doing cable and satellite.
