HomeAway, Inc., which operates s network of vacation rental web sites, has named Michael "Mike" Butler to the newly created position of CMO.
An award-winning marketer instrumental in
transforming T-Mobile and Capital One into power brands, Butler is now responsible for leading HomeAway's global marketing initiatives.
Butler will oversee marketing for HomeAway's leading
vacation rental sites including HomeAway.com, VRBO.com, VacationRentals.com, Holiday-Rentals.co.uk, OwnersDirect.co.uk, FeWo-direkt.de and Abritel.fr, while leading teams in four countries.
He
joins HomeAway from T-Mobile USA, where, during his three years as EVP/CMO, he led all marketing and advertising efforts and built a nationally recognized brand for the $15 billion business.
Butler helped earn T-Mobile three consecutive JD Power Awards for industry-leading customer satisfaction, as well as a prestigious Gold Effie award for superior effectiveness in advertising. T-Mobile
USA's revenues and its customer base more than doubled during his tenure.

Prior to T-Mobile, Butler served as VP/brand marketing for Capital One. The company's "No Hassle" financial services and
Effie award-winning "What's in your wallet?" campaign were part of the brand strategy he helped design. During his four years at Capital One, the company saw a nearly three-fold increase in
subscribers and built a brand with over 90% awareness.
Butler's early career focused on the consumer packaged goods industry. He held positions at Kraft General Foods and Kellogg Company. As
VP/marketing at Kellogg, he managed a portfolio of 27 cereal brands.
