Political ad spending online may not be surging this year, but political sites are making big gains.
Politics was the fastest-growing Web site category over the last year, along
with women's community sites, with traffic jumping 35%, according to comScore Media Metrix.
And a study by Synovate-ClipBlast!, cited in a recent research note by eMarketer, found that
one-quarter or more of all age groups planned to get political information on the presidential candidates from online news video.
While most adults still prefer to get campaign information from
traditional media, 24% plan to get election news online this year--up from 13% in 2000, according to research from the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press.
