Grammy Award-winner Billy Joel - who has been nominated for a Tony award for the Broadway show Moving' Out, will open the 57th annual Tony Awards that will air on CBS between 8-11 p.m. Sunday, June 8.
The show is hosted by Hugh Jackman.
Joel will perform his 1970s hit New York State of Mind live from Times Square in New York City. Melanie Griffith, Nathan Lane, John Leguizamo, Edie Falco and
others will present awards. Jason Alexander and Martin Short, stars of The Producers, will present an award from their West Coast performance at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. Performances from
nominated musical productions - including A Year with Frog and Toad and Hairspray - are scheduled.
