NYTimes.com Goes to the Movies

  • June 1, 2003
NYTimes.com announced on Friday that it has relaunched its movies section - movies.nytimes.com - with 20 years of New York Times reviews and a new section entitled "Critics' Picks" with recommendations and reviews from Times film critics Stephen Holden, Elvis Mitchell and A.O. Scott. Movies.nytimes.com users have exclusive access to a new "Readers' Reviews" tool where they can rate movies, post their own reviews and view other readers' opinions. The redesigned movies section provides detailed reviews, trailers and showtimes for movies currently in theaters as well as information about upcoming releases. New tools and services allow NYTimes.com's readers to quickly search reviews by movie title, year, genre, critic or country of origin, and a new section highlights "The Matrix Reloaded" generated more than 1,400 ratings and numerous pages of discussion and analysis within its first week of release. In addition to features and news coverage exclusive to The New York Times, Moviesmovies.nytimes.com also provides extensive director, cast and production information from AMG's All Movie Guide; online ticketing from MovieTickets.com; weekend box office results from Nielsen EDI; and a national show time database searchable by movie title or zip code.
