Facebook on Thursday said it had reached an agreement with authorities from 49 states and the District of Columbia to take steps to protect users under 18 from predators.

The social networking site said it will develop age verification technology, send warnings if it appears that a minor is going to reveal information to users over 18.

MySpace recently reached a similar agreement with the same jurisdictions.
