Claudia Malley has been named publisher of
National Geographic's Green Guide. Malley will continue as vice president and publisher of National Geographic's flagship magazine. The news comes not
long after Malley organized a collaboration by the magazine with the Aspen Institute to host a forum on global warming; Malley said the event was so successful that the magazine will organize more
events on environmental themes. In general, Malley said
NatGeo is riding the growing wave of interest in green issues. She touted the publication's long engagement with climate change--its
first article on the subject was published in 1974--and general reputation as a trustworthy source, making it an ideal place for "green" advertisers. The summer edition of the quarterly
Green
Guide is on newsstands now.
