AT&T confirmed Wednesday that Wendy Clark will step down as senior VP of advertising, citing her decision not to relocate when the carrier moves its corporate headquarters from San Antonio to
Dallas. The move will begin in the coming weeks and conclude by year's end.
"We appreciate Wendy Clark's leadership during a period when the company significantly expanded its
operations and successfully launched the new AT&T brand," the company said in a statement.
AT&T plans to conduct an extensive search for candidates to lead advertising and brand efforts as
the company continues to expand globally.
Clark led the turnaround campaign designed by Omnicom Group's BBDO, supporting the AT&T's rebranding from SBC Communications, and oversaw the
consolidation of the company's media-buying business to WPP Group's Mediaedge:cia. It meant combining marketing and ad agencies after the BellSouth and Cingular merger.
Marketing Daily
named AT&T Marketer of the Year in 2007, in part, for Clark's efforts.
