The Popularity Of Flags

  • April 11, 2002
According to data released by the Yellow Pages Research Institute (YPRI), the market research arm of the Yellow Pages Integrated Media Association (Yellow Pages IMA), almost 23 times as many consumers as usual referenced the Yellow Pages "Flags and Flagpoles" heading following the terrorist attacks of September 11. Metered Ad studies showed that the number of calls to a flag manufacturer in a mid-sized Midwestern city last year jumped from its average of about 65 per month to a whopping 1,526 during the month of September. This represents an increase of approximately 2,248 percent. The figures are from a 10-month tracking period during February to November 2001, and the calling volume has subsequently returned to a level of about 65 or so per month.
