Teaching Kids Finance Literacy

Perhaps our schools should be teaching students the basics of personal and household budgeting and cash management. Whether these issues are taught in middle school, as a required course in high school, or even as part of a core in college, teaching young people about handling their money would appear to be advantageous.

Likewise, companies might do well to educate employees about handling money, particularly non-professionals and those not involved in the finance function, with the thought that learning to budget and manage expenses should reduce the anxiety many bring to the job and make them more focused, more productive and happier.
