It probably seemed like a good idea at the time, to create a football league that would start as soon as the NFL's season ended. High ratings the first week would support this idea, but those ratings
quickly slid, and the XFL became the laughingstock of Saturday nights. After just one season of setting all-time low ratings, the XFL is officially D.O.A, as the World Wrestling Federation and NBC
have officially decided to discontinue the league. The WWF said its share of after-tax losses will be about $35 million. NBC's loss should be similar.
