Arbitron has added five new radio markets to the Fall 2000 Arbitron radio survey schedule, including Middlesex-Somerset-Union, NJ; Westchester, NY; Clarksville-Hopkinsville, TN-KY; Flagstaff-Prescott,
AZ; and St. George-Cedar-City, UT. This brings the total number of radio markets measured by Arbitron to 283. Middlesex-Somerset-Union and Westchester are Continuous Measurement markets surveyed
four times a year- Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Both these markets are embedded in the New York radio metro. That means these markets will be reported in separate radio audience reports while
these areas will continue to be included in the New York Radio Market Report. (Nassau-Suffolk, NY, Monmouth-Ocean, NJ, Morristown NJ and Stamford Norwalk, CT are existing embedded radio markets within
the New York Metro). Clarksville-Hopkinsville, Flagstaff-Prescott and St. George-Cedar City are Condensed Radio Markets measured twice a year in the Fall and the Spring surveys. They will be part of
the Arbitron Qualitative Diary Service. The standard seven-day diary used in these Qualitative Diary markets to collect radio listening also includes 26 consumer questions covering nearly two dozen
socioeconomic, retail and media categories. In July 2000, Ceridian Corporation announced its intention to separate into two publicly traded companies, Ceridian Corporation and Arbitron Inc. The
transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and is contingent upon receipt of a letter ruling from the Internal Revenue Service that the spin-off will be tax-free to Ceridian and
its stockholders for United States federal income tax purposes and contingent on Ceridian completing its corporate restructuring transactions and refinancing all of its outstanding domestic
indebtedness
