Digital Cinema Delivery NOT A Mess

I respectfully disagree with the assessment of digital cinema delivery in this article. Yes, when there were several small, disparate attempts to jump-start digital cinema with proprietary systems, delivery was a mess. But immediately after DCI issued its first version of requirements, and then when AccessIT launched Phase 1 of the rollout, within 2 years there was a standard file format, standard physical media interfaces, and an open API for electronic delivery by satellite. Real competition exists in the delivery of digital media because of this open standards work.
