Wireless Giants Launch Wireless Promotion With Millions in Prizes

  • September 25, 2000
This October some commercials during "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" will be as exciting and profitable as the show. Two of the biggest names in wireless communication, Ericsson and AT&T, have created an unprecedented interactive promotion using wireless technology to allow someone a chance to win a million dollars-without all the tough questions!

This watch-click-and-win promotion extends the relationship AT&T has with the ABC network game show, "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." Some players of the Ericsson/AT&T game, called Ericsson and AT&T Can Make You a Millionaire! will use an electronic device that looks like the Ericsson R280LX Internet-ready phone. The device uses cutting-edge VEIL(tm) (Video Encoded Invisible Light) technology to let viewers interact with special encoded TV commercials which will air during "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" on October 25, 26, 29 and 31.

Players simply point the device at the TV screen during the special Ericsson/AT&T commercials and push the "Yes" button on the keypad to determine what prize/rebate they may have won. Ericsson and AT&T Wireless are the first companies to utilize VEIL's patented technology to deliver instant prize information direct to home TV screens.
