Matthews Heads For 'Hardball,' Not Senate Run

Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC's "Hardball," is ready to run -- back to the network. He won't challenge Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter for his seat in 2010, though there was speculation he'd toss his hat into the political ring. Matthews, who worked for both Pres. Jimmy Carter and House Speaker Tip O'Neill, is returning to his old anchor job, though sources tell The Washington Post he'll take a pay cut -- from $5 million a year to an expected $2 million.
