'USA Today' Stops Global Edition, 'Tucson Citizen' For Sale

USA Today will cease publishing its international edition on Feb. 6, but it looking for partners in Europe and South America to continue operating it, reports AP. The global edition has a circ of 60,000. The Gannett-owned newspaper would supply articles and phones; the partners would publish locally and sell ads in exchange for giving USA Today a licensing fee. Separately, Gannett is trying to sell assets of the Tuscon Citizen, founded in 1870. It will close the nearly 20,000 circ newspaper if there is no sale by March 21.
