I have been in the advertising business for over 25+ years, the last 17 at J. Walter Thompson. I currently oversee all healthcare business at JWT, which includes a diverse array of businesses from vaccines/infectious diseases to pharmaceuticals to over the counter medicines to nutritional supplements to hospital/ insurance companies,etc. Health comprises over 10% of J. Walter Thompson’s business globally and is a key growth driver for the foreseeable future.
I was a co-founder of Chemistry, the organization set up by WPP to handle the Janssen Pharmaceutical business and was it’s first CEO. For eight (8) years, I lead the J&J Consumer Business Globally for JWT, overseeing businesses and teams in over 40+ countries-and with 1,000+ colleagues.
I was a pioneer in direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical advertising in the US and have helped drive communications for some of the largest blockbuster Brands in the industry such as Lipitor, Prevacid, and Abilify. Recent blockbusters I have stewarded include Lyrica, Symbicort, and Xarelto for J&J. I have also overseen several vaccines franchises (Shingles, Rotavirus). My experience and reputation at JWT allows me to marshall the most talented people in the network anywhere on earth to provide outstanding creative solutions for clients that surpass business goals. I have won over 10 Effie Awards for outstanding creative campaigns that exceed sales expectations. I was also inducted in 2014 to the US Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Hall of Fame for my contributions to the Pharmaceutical industry. A Bowdoin college graduate, early in my career I worked for several blue-chip marketers as Procter & Gamble and General Mills.
