Have mercy. John Stamos still
has it after all these years. He reunites with Bob Saget and Dave Coulier from his "Full House" days in a Super Bowl ad for Oikos yogurt. The ad begins with Stamos
sharing a sensuous moment involving Greek yogurt with an attractive woman. The mood gets awkward when Stamos intentionally spills yogurt on his pants and shares a playful look with
his date -- only to be interrupted by housemates Saget and Coulier. Back in the days of "Full House," Saget's character was a real neat freak; close to 20 years later, he still is, forcing Stamos out
of his pants so he can clean the stain before it's permanent. The date storms off, leaving Stamos, clad in Oikos boxers, a prisoner in his own house. How rude. Watch it here.
Tim Tebow
couldn't score a long-term contract with a NFL team, but at least he has a sense of humor. Tebow stars in two Super Bowl ads for T-Mobile, highlighting the
advantages of life without multiyear contracts in his personal and mobile life. This is T-Mobile's first time advertising in the Super Bowl. In "No Contract, No
Worries," Tebow addresses the rumors that he was looking to sign a long-term NFL deal. He's content without a contract and lists his accomplishments of the past year. Tebow delivered a
baby, tackled Bigfoot, brokered world peace and played football on the moon. "Contracts are limiting. Yes, they are," says Tebow. See
it here. In "Still No Contract," Tebow continues to weigh his options and try new career changes like bull rider, stuntman, sexy fireman rescuing puppies,
and rockstar. Watch it here. Both ads use the #nocontract hashtag and were a pleasant surprise in this
year's Super Bowl round-up.
Intuit
QuickBooks has announced the winner of its Small Business Big Game contest, who receives an all-expenses-paid Super Bowl ad running in the third quarter:
GoldieBlox, a book series and construction set marketed to young girls. The small-business brand is widely known from the brouhaha it created last year when its online ad parodied
"Girls," a song by the Beastie Boys, without the band's permission. Two 15-second teaser spots, created by RPA, don't reveal too much.
The first teaser shows a pair of wide-eyed boys fixing a bicycle, only to look up when they hear a
group of girls screaming. The next teaser shows a large group of girls running fast and loud,
throwing away their typical girly toys like dolls and stuffed animals.
Toyota's Super Bowl
spot promoting its 2014 Highlander has plenty of room for Terry Crews, the Muppets and their musical instruments -- but zero room for boring. The ad begins with Crews playing the role of Good
Samaritan when he sees a stranded bus on the side of the road. Offering the strangers aid, Crews gets more than he bargains for when the Muppets crew, along with their drum set, saxophone, bongos,
grand piano and chickens, overtake his car, even demoting him from driver to passenger. The Muppets have no time for boring activities, so they stomp grapes in wine country, enliven a senior citizen's
bingo game and participate in Carnivale. In reality, Crews is parked in his driveway with his tie around his head, singing alone. His concerned neighbor, Kermit the Frog, checks in on his
well-being. See it here.
