The law received broad support among U.S. lawmakers who expressed concern about national security or were dismayed that TikTok spread anti-American and anti-Semitic content after terrorist group Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, killing more than 1,400 people and taking about 200 hostages.
However, public support for a ban has steadily declined in the past year and a half, according to a survey from the nonprofit Pew Research Center.
