Streamers Likely Benefit From Rising Cost Of Sports Attendance

The rising cost of tickets to attend sporting events “likely contributes” to more time spent watching sports on TV, according to researcher CivicScience. Almost two-thirds (62%) of regular sports event attendees say they avoided buying tickets in the past six months because of price hikes, matching last year’s number and up from 54% in 2022.

Overpriced concessions also are a turnoff, with about a third of respondents saying the price of concessions affects their decision to buy game tickets a lot. Another 27% of respondents say the concessions have at least a little effect on their plans.
