GM Says No More Nummi

  • July 1, 2009
General Motors Corp. says it is shuttering Nummi, the joint venture production facility with Toyota at Fremont, Calif. The New United Motor Manufacturing is closing, says GM, because the two automakers failed to reach an agreement on a new product to be built there.

General Motors makes the Pontiac Vibe and Toyota the Corolla and Tacoma. General Motors, however, is killing the Pontiac brand. GM says the Nummi plant will be sold.

Bankruptcy court is set to rule on Tuesday on the plant's sale to U.S. government entity.--Karl Greenberg
