National Food Policy Event Slated For Oct. 3 - 4

The 34th Annual National Food Policy Conference, coordinated by the Consumer Federation of America, will be held Monday and Tuesday, October 3-4, at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Speakers will include U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Margaret Hamburg, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention Director Tom Frieden, U.S. Representative Jack Kingston, and award-winning chef Jose Andres.

Former Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman will open the conference by outlining current challenges in feeding a rapidly growing world population. Other public policy leaders will address the impact of budget cuts on federal food assistance, nutrition and safety programs. The latest consumer attitudes and trends on food issues will also be presented.
