General Motors will unveil several new production cars at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, including a compact performance sedan for Cadillac, the 2013 Cadillac ATS, giving Caddie something to field against BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4. 

“ATS is a crucial part of Cadillac's expansion,” GM Senior Vice President of Global Product Development Mary Barra told the Automotive Press Association on Friday. “ATS enters the biggest market segment in the global luxury car industry, both in terms of volume and importance.

Barra oversees a $15 billion operation currently designing and engineering 113 major product programs globally “from concept to production… mini-cars to full size body-on-frame trucks…and everything in between,” she said.
