Google on Thursday added the ability to buy products from its Home Internet-connected device. The service links directly from Google Assistant, which supports voice search that drives searches for the company's connected smart speaker, to its Express shopping service.

Consumers will have an option to say things like "Okay, Google, order Scott paper towels," and as long as the brand participated in Google Express, the order is received and it processes. If the consumer doesn't know the brand, they only need to say "order paper towels" or "buy water" and Google Assistant will run through the options available through merchants such as Costco, Whole Foods Market, Walgreens, PetSmart, Bed Bath & Beyond and more than 50 other national and locally available retailers.

Google Express shopping offers items from more than 50 retailers for same-day delivery in 12 states. Similar to Amazon Prime, Google changes an annual membership fee. There's also a minimum order amount and a delivery fee associated with Express. Until April 30, Google is waving the fee.

For now consumers can order things that cost between $4 and $100, per Google. The price that Google Assistant recites back includes tax, which in most cases is determined by the location of the store in which the items are purchased.

One thing to note --- for those who previously shopped on Google Express from the Express app or at google.com/express, the shopping list on Google Home is separate from the Google Express shopping list. The Google Home shopping list is saved in the individual's Google Keep account.
