New Intel Spot Designed To 'Break Apple's Spell'

According to surveys from Statista and Gartner, Apple has around 15% of the home computer market. You might think that the companies that own about 85% of the market would be sanguine, but you’d be wrong.

In this latest Intel ad, from VMLY&R, we are presented with diehard Apple fans who like the idea of customizing their computers, playing endless games and having a couple of touchscreens, one you could detach and use as a tablet. The Apple users are then stunned to see the devices are already out.

Tagline: “When you break Apple’s spell, the choice becomes clear. Go PC.”

This ad is part of Intel’s #GoPC campaign, which includes former Apple pitchman Justin Long decrying the monochrome finish of contemporary Macs.

This ad is clearly aimed at younger consumers, whose brand allegiances haven’t yet been set.  Yet a recent study by TrendForce  shows strong demand for Macs, as Apple and Samsung showed the strongest growth.
