Candy Digital, Major League Baseball Team To Market Collectibles

Digital collectibles are popular — and Major League Baseball is committed to the medium.

Teaming with brand engagement platform Candy Digital, the MLB, the MLB Players Association and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is kicking off a summer of collectibles. Candy is partnering with MLB at the upcoming 2023 MLB All-Star Game today at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, presented by Mastercard.

"We've seen a lot of really good progress with the commemorative ticket as an NFT or a digital product," MLB COO and strategy officer Chris Marinak said. "Commemorative ticketing is one of the big areas where you'll see a focus from us this year."

Last season, almost 200,000 commemorative tickets were collected by fans for games they attended.

Scott Lawin, CEO of Candy Digital, said: “This year, all fans attending the Game can mint an exclusive and limited edition commemorative ticket sponsored by Mastercard for free at Candy.com.” All Mastercard users who purchased tickets and attend the 2023 MLB All-Star Game can redeem the exclusive commemorative digital tickets on http://go.candy.com/allstar.

In addition, a special 3D MLB All-Star digital collectible baseball will be available for all fans to redeem until July 31. Each redemption automatically enters fans into a sweepstakes to win two tickets to the 2023 World Series presented by Capital One.

Continuing through the remainder of 2023, Candy will also offer commemorative digital tickets to visitors to the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum in Cooperstown, New York.

Rounding out fan engagements,  Elias Sports Bureau, the official statistician of the MLB, and Candy Digital will kick up Candy Code Breakers Challenges. Each week, Candy customers can use their MLB digital collectibles to answer baseball trivia questions to earn points and win rewards, including exclusive packs, autographed merchandise, and more.

Major League Baseball consists of 30 member clubs in the U.S. and Canada.
