Spotify's Revamped Discovery Program Puts New Songwriters, Podcasters On The 'Radar'

Spotify has announced its latest cast of selected participants for Radar, a program launched in 2020 in support of emerging artists on the streaming platform.

Radar has also been expanded to include songwriters and podcasters, featuring a new creator-focused brand campaign with the tagline “Meet the Future.”

Through what a spokesperson called “a careful editorial process,” Radar has selected rising artists, songwriters and podcasters to help them be discovered by new audiences while further developing a relationship with current fans.

The company says participating artists are given specialized on-and-off platform support “to maximize exposure to potential audiences.”

Featuring a roster of over 700 artists across 183 countries since its inception, the Radar program will now include a combination of artists, songwriters, and podcasters.

Notable acts that have gone through the Radar program include Mexican powerhouse Peso Pluma, British rockers Wet Leg and country icon Zack Bryan.

Spotify says its podcast offerings feature 23 shows the platform identifies as “the next big thing” -- giving users the chance to discover a range of topics presented by a diverse group of creators from around the world including Power Pizza, CineFacts, Half-Arsed History, Radio La Pera, Brown Bag and more.

Similarly, a new group of emerging songwriters will be added to the Radar list, including international hitmakers like Ines Dunn, Natali Noor, Alessandro La Cava, Beach Noise and more. The company says it recognized songwriters as “the heart of the music industry” and hopes to bring “greater visibility to their craft.”

The campaign itself includes a series of videos that will be shared across digital channels, the company says, as well as a series of OOH executions in New York, London, and Los Angeles.
