Quaker Links Oatmeal And Football With 'Pregrain' Tour

With the weather cooling down and the NFL season heating up, Quaker -- the official oatmeal partner of the NFL -- is expanding on the “pregraining” concept it introduced last year with the 2023 Quaker Pregrain Tour.

Undoubtedly a play on “pregame,” pregraining, as defined last year, was a chance for viewers to “fuel up ahead of the game,” with another kind of grain beyond hops by the glass.

As part of the tour, the PepiCo brand’s tailgate truck will visit select NFL stadiums during six games this season to invite fans to “pregrain” with recipes inspired by their favorite teams. Fans can also find recipes  for their team of choice on the Quaker Digital Playbook, which features 32 recipes -- one for each NFL team.

Former NFL star Eli Manning previously introduced fans to “pregraining” with a TikTok challenge calling on them to share their own “pregrain” routines. Quaker kicked off the tour this past Sunday with Apple Cider Cranberry Donuts at the New England Patriots’ game at Gillette Stadium.

The campaign also includes a commitment to addressing youth hunger. During the NFL’s Taste of the NFL purpose-driven Super Bowl culinary event, Quaker will make a $250,000 donation to youth health and wellness nonprofit organization GENYOUth.

According to Katie Scupham, vice president of Meal Occasions at PepsiCo, the cause is connected to the Quaker’s brands roots by upholding its “founder's belief that the circumstances of life should not be a barrier to good nutrition.“

Throughout the season, former NFL stars Archie and Eli Manning will spread the word about the campaign by sharing their own favorite Quaker recipes and discussing Quaker’s partnership with the NFL and GENYOUth to help tackle hunger. They’ll be joined in their efforts by sports reporter and  Peloton instructor Jess Sims, as well as by chef and GENYOUth board member Carla Hall.
