Code And Theory Wins Digital AOR For Star Tribune Media Co.

Minneapolis-based Star Tribune Media Co., billed as the largest news organization in the Midwest, has selected Stagwell’s Code and Theory as its digital agency of record to relaunch its web and app properties.

Like many local media organizations, Star Tribune Media is currently revamping its business model for the digital age with new technology, partnerships and strategic objectives.

Code and Theory’s work to refresh the company’s web and app presence is scheduled to launch in the fall. The agency will work closely with the Star Tribune’s product, design and engineering teams on the effort.

Founded in 1867, the Star Tribune intends to reposition itself as a “modern media company.” In part the new assets are intended to showcase the company’s strength in covering local news in a way that connects with its readers.

Code and Theory has experience in the media space, having created digital assets for high-profile companies including Bloomberg, Vogue and Los Angeles Times

Star Tribune chief product officer Aron Pilhofer stated: “Through refreshed technical, design and product systems, we are going to work together to reimagine what ‘local’ coverage and connection means in the age of digital. We want Minnesotans to know that we are thankful for their support and the Star Tribune will be there for them for the long haul. There was no better agency than Code and Theory to lead this charge.”

Other Code and Theory clients include Amazon, JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft, MSNBC, NFL, Pfizer, and Zappos.
