Feds Won't Challenge MRC's AMP Change

The Department of Justice on Friday said it would not challenge a Media Rating Council proposal related to Currency AMPs (audience measurement products) that are used to determine the financial value of advertising. Thomas O. Barnett, assistant attorney general in charge of the Department's Antitrust Division, told the MRC that the proposed change is not likely to harm competition--and that a voluntary, pre-commercialization audit and accreditation have the potential to benefit users by providing assurances that the products are "valid, reliable and effective." --Les Luchter
