Volvo is sponsoring the 2009 Amgen Tour of California bicycle race. It will promote the 2010 Volvo XC60 crossover at five of the tour finishes in Sacramento, Santa Cruz, Modesto, Pasadena and
Escondido.
The company will have nine XC60s at the race, visible to 1.2 million people watching along the courses. Volvo will let consumers take rides to demonstrate the City Safety
feature, a low-speed collision avoidance system.
The 2009 Amgen Tour of California is a Tour de France-style cycling road race, presented by AEG, that challenges the world's top professional
