Queen Elizabeth II re-launched her Web site at a Buckingham Palace reception.
In attendance were World Wide Web creator Sir Tim Berners-Lee and several senior executives from Google,
Apple and AOL, according to reports. The site--which originally launched in 1997--includes job posts; more video; historical facts, figures and documents; and what the monarch calls "virtual
rooms"--high-resolution pictures shot inside Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace that allow visitors to look around.
Among those artifacts is the journal that Queen Victoria describes trying
Alexander Graham Bell's new invention, the telephone. The site also has a direct link to the family's YouTube channel. In 2007, Queen Elizabeth launched her own channel on Google's video-sharing Web
site YouTube. The royal channel features her Christmas Day message, and footage of the monarch and other members of the Royal Family.--Laurie Sullivan
