Schiller is presently EVP of global marketing at media and advertising network Glam Media--a position he is expected to hold through the end of the week. Schiller therefore declined to discuss his motivation for leaving Glam, other than to say that CIM is "poised to offer brand marketers trusted environments."
"My perspective is that CPMs on highly targeted trusted environments hold their own during tough times," Schiller said. "I've seen it before in my career."
Well-known throughout the ad industry, Schiller co-founded the Interactive Advertising Bureau, and served as its first vice-chairman.
Based in New York City, Schiller will staff and manage CIM sales offices throughout the country. He reports to Chuck Davis, EVP of Comcast interactive media and CEO of Fandango, and will oversee sales for Fandango, Fancast, Movies.com and social net platform Plaxo.
This year represents major opportunities for such established brands, according to Schiller. "'09 is a time for top online brands to increase their share" of the market, he said.
Schiller will not oversee DailyCandy, the women's lifestyle e-mail newsletter and Web site acquired by Comcast last summer.
Earlier in his career, Schiller served as SVP of interactive marketing for America Online, and SVP of strategic partnership marketing for the Walt Disney Internet group, where he ran ad sales and sponsorship for such Disney-branded sites as ABC.com, ABCNews.com, Disney.com, Family.com and ESPN.com.
Schiller also previously served as vice president of advertising and partnership marketing for Sony Online Ventures, vice president of advertising sales for Prodigy, and account director for MTV Networks, during the cable network's earliest days.
