Although details of the sponsorship were not revealed in the tour's announcement Monday, band manager Paul McGuinness said in a statement that the partnership with Research in Motion "marks the first
stage of a relationship ... that we expect will lead to new and innovative ways to enhance the mobile music experience on the BlackBerry platform for U2 fans. We look forward to sharing more details
as the relationship unfolds."
The tour, to promote the band's latest album, launches in Barcelona in June and moves to the U.S. in September.--Aaron Baar
