Mag Bag: Haire Named CEO of 'Parade'

Jack Haire  Haire Named CEO of Parade

Jack Haire has been named CEO of Parade Publications, one of the nation's largest newspaper-distributed magazines. Haire -- who served as publisher of Time magazine from 1993 to 1998, among other executive positions -- is set to replace outgoing Parade CEO Walter Anderson, who is retiring on July 1.

In addition to his stint at Time, Haire served as executive vice president of Time Inc., president of the Fortune-Money Group, and vice president of sales and marketing at Entertainment Weekly during one of its most successful periods. More recently, Haire started his own business in 2006 -- Haire Media Ventures -- which focused on innovative approaches to advertising, advising CNET, Quigo and Hallmark, among others.

The news of Haire's appointment comes not long after rumors circulated that Richard Beckman, the former head of Conde Nast's Media Group, might be tapped to replace Anderson. However, Beckman took a new position as president and CEO of the Fairchild Fashion Group, which publishes a number of business-to-business titles, including Women's Wear Daily and FN (Footwear News). Beckman was succeeded by Lou Cona, formerly the senior vice president of the Media Group.
